Earn money from your music: introduction to PRS
Learn how to earn royalties from the music you write in this online talk from YSWN and PRS for Music.
Did you know that every time music is publicly played or a copy is made, royalties are generated? If you’ve ever wanted to know how to receive songwriting royalties for live shows or radio plays, or are confused about the difference between PRS, MCPS and PPL, then help is at hand.
PRS for Music represents the rights of over 155,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers in the UK and around the world. As a membership organisation it works to ensure that creators are paid whenever their musical compositions and songs are streamed, downloaded, broadcast, performed and played in public.
If you write your own songs or music, or co-write with others and your music is being regularly performed, then you could consider joining PRS and you could earn money from your music.
Daniel Jones, PRS for Music’s Outreach Manager for the North of England will be here to discuss everything you need to know about PRS and MCPS, the rights contained within a song and the different sources of royalties songwriters and composers can earn from.
The seminar will take place via Zoom; attendees will receive a private link through the email used for booking in advance of the event. Tickets are free and space is limited. Please get in touch by emailing info@yorkshiresoundwomen.com if you have any access requirements that would make it easier for you to enjoy this event.
In line with YSWN’s aims, this seminar is intended for an audience of women and people of minority genders – we ask that you respect this when booking tickets and do not deny someone else a place if you are not among this group.
