WYPW Exhibition: Robert Tavener Linocuts
In association with the Emma Mason Gallery
Robert Tavener Linocuts The Print Process as ‘A String Quartet’
8 August – 19 September 2015
Whether images of boats, guardsmen, cathedrals, or rolling landscapes Robert Tavener’s prints are varied, beautiful, bold and colourful; “My subject matter is a personal interpretation of the richness, variety, beauty, and underlying relationship with the past, of our landscape and building.” This exhibition at West Yorkshire Print Workshop will take an in-depth look at the way in which the highly-respected Hampstead-born printmaker and illustrator Tavener used linocut techniques to celebrate both English countryside and English architecture, astutely likening the process to ‘conducting a string quartet.’
