Etching – Taster Session – June

Spend an evening learning etching, an ‘intaglio’ printmaking process, where lines and tones are ‘bitten’ into a metal plate. (This is traditionally done using an acid, however we use a solution of copper sulphate – a less toxic alternative). A print is then taken from ink which is held within these bitten marks. Learners will be guided through the process of plate making, inking and #printing in the traditional intaglio way.

Our new taster sessions offer an introduction to some of the key printmaking techniques offered and practiced here at WYPW, and a glimpse into the processes involved in creating hand-made prints. You will be guided and encouraged by experienced artists who use printmaking in their own art practice, in a professionally equipped workshop setting.
