Lino etching summer school - August
Our next Lino printing course coming up is our new
'Lino Etching Summer School' in August with artists Jenny Thomas and Fabian Osborne.
3 day course
Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th August 2019
10am – 4pm
This extended 3 day course offers the opportunity to explore lino etching in more depth and on a larger scale, working on 30 x 30 blocks! You will experiment with this versatile technique in our professionally equipped workshops, with time to develop your own approach to the medium.
Lino etching is a painterly relief printing technique, capable of producing a wide range of gestural marks and gradations of tone and texture. It can also be combined with traditional cutting methods using lino tools. Caustic soda etches or ‘bites’ into the surface of the lino block to various depths, according to the length of time it remains in contact with the lino block. Resists can also be used to control where the caustic soda etches the block.
