Drawing Through Printmaking – Drypoint and Collagraph Techniques
Weekend course
Saturday 30th September / Sunday 1st October 2017
11 – 5
£135.00
Tutor: Shelley Burgoyne
As part of our Big Draw month at WYPW, develop your image making skills through accessible and experimental drawing exercises, and work with a range of collage and textural materials to explore a fluid and experimental approach to intaglio printmaking.
This course is a great introduction to intaglio printmaking techniques. Experiment with drypoint, collagraph and carborundum, with time to explore new approaches to image-making. Collagraph involves collaging textural materials onto a base plate, and printing from the plate using a press, and carborundum grit allows painterly areas of rich tone to be created.
The course is suitable for people with some experience, as well as complete beginners, and will give you the skills to continue working in your own time at WYPW.
Shelley Burgoyne is an exhibiting Fine Art Printmaker with many years experience teaching and leading printmaking courses. She works mainly with drypoint, collagraph, carborundum and relief print processes. Her creative approach is organic and intuitive; exploring form and line, and the potential of printed layers.
