Ripping Yarns - Dewsbury
Six short films by Alistair I MacDonald telling the stories behind some of our most innovative textile recycling businesses; turning old jeans into car interiors, creating yarn from nettles, and recycling 1000's of wedding dresses every year. The films will also include tales from artisans and crafters making beautiful bespoke products.
Kirklees Through Textiles, is a cornucopia of local historic films curated by Chris Squire, will follow Ripping Yarns. The 12 short films from the 1900's to present day, including rare footage of workers leaving a Dewsbury mill at the beginning of the 20th Century, a vivid portrait of post-war family life and the forgotten story of Schofield and Smith's mill in Slaithwaite (and the artist who salvaged material from it after it burned down).
