INTERWOVEN: Family Dance: Social Workshop

Join Nisha Lall and Lisa Heywood from the DANCE:SOCIAL collective for a family friendly dance and storytelling workshop.

We will share traditional and modern dance moves from both the UK and South Asia and listen to nostalgic songs from the 50s, 60s& 70s by singers such as Muhammed Rafi and Noor Jehan, as well as traditional English folk music.

Using dance moves from Bhangra and Bollywood as well as Ceilidh and Country Dancing we will weave the moves into some simple sequences that tell the story of the Kirklees textile industry past and present, and the diverse communities who have contributed to it.

This workshop is FREE, but you do need to BOOK.

Suitable for 8 years to adults (younger children are welcome to join in with parents).
