Hidden From Sight: exploring the role textiles in the landscape
Come along to walk, make and sketch in the open air on the Pennine moors above Marsden. Our walk leader, who is a weaver and a researcher who works on textiles and landscape, will guide us on a walk of about three miles, stopping on the way to sketch, make and chat, sharing stories of textiles, the changing moorland landscape and hidden heroes of the textile world.
The walk will be approximately a 3 mile loop starting from Mount Road above Marsden Golf Club (there are two small parking areas there and we will be just 0.5 mile from the Hard End terminus of the 183 Bus or the people can use the 184 Carriage House stop on the A62). We will traverse the moors to Swellands Reservoir via small paths and then walk alongside Black Moss Reservoir returning along a paved section of the Pennine Way and a bridleway.
Sensible footwear and clothing suitable for all weathers would be advisable (including sun cream!).
