‘Onwards’ is a multi-venue music festival showcasing the unique ‘sites’ and sounds Huddersfield has to offer! Likened to a pub-crawl with music; ‘Onwards’ guides the participants on a journey of musical encounters. Utilising some of Huddersfield’s best venues and pubs. Onwards provides a much-needed opportunity to celebrate its diverse range of community and bubbling local talent.

In 2016 Onwards incubated its concept and delivered a successful festival, programming events across 5 Huddersfield establishments. Over 100 people attended the festival, which saw performances and commissions from local musicians and artists.

In 2017 we have expanded Onwards to include more venues and more artists than the previous year. Still with a heavy emphasis on promoting and supporting local talent, this year’s line-up showcases the vast array of exceptional musicians and bands Huddersfield has to offer. From ‘New Orleans’ style brass bands to solo loop artists and across a multitude of genres, there is something for everyone on this musical adventure across our wonderful town!

Day tickets (wristbands) are available now priced £15, which includes entry to all events.

13:00 – Onwards welcome!
14:00 – ‘Deadbeat Brass’ (10-piece New Orleans style brass band)

THE SPORTSMAN
15:30 – ‘Birds & Beasts’ (Distinctive pop quartet, singing stories from the animal kingdom)

VINYL TAP
15:30 – ‘Harley Jay’ (Singer/songwriter with beautiful vocals and guitar)
16:00 – ‘Band Of Jays’ (Chilled, jazzy, pop trio with alluring vocals and luscious harmonies)

COFFEE EVOLUTION
15:30 – ‘Kaninchen’ (Loop pedal song writer Jess Baker takes you on a journey through sound!)
16:00 - ‘Rib Corps (Raw and uncompromising energy and passion from this one man song machine)

OTSO (Wristband required for entry)
17:30 - ‘Crooks & Claridge’ (Huddersfield's favourite casuistical heresiarchs to fill the air with pitch, rhythm and rhetoric)

CAFÉ OLLO – MEDIA CENTRE (Wristband required for entry)
19:00 – ‘Rosa Lucy’ (Thought provoking poetry from this wonderful weaver of words)
19:30 – ‘Jonas Lapinas’ (Live electronics set from Terrafin frontman)
20:00 – ‘Thabo’ (Thabo and his live band spread a message of truth, humility, art, bravery & Optimism, through their unique brand of ‘Bare Knuckle Soul’ music.

SMALL SEEDS (Wristband required for entry)
22:00 – ‘Nu Popes’ (Powerhouse combining funk, blues and soul with pure talent and endless energy to create a uncompromising live show)
23:30 – ‘Chicken Scratch’ (Reggae, Dancehall, Dub and many more nuggets from around the world)
