I won Outstanding Promoter at the Yorkshire Gig Guide Awards!

I’m very pleased that True North Music won the Outstanding Promoter Award at the Yorkshire Gig Guide Grassroots Awards last month. It's much appreciated recognition for all the hard work that goes into making successful concerts happen, especially at a grassroots level. My one-woman music venture has no funding and no other staff, but I really appreciate the many people whose help and support has enabled me to put on so many outstanding and well-attended gigs in the last two and a half years, especially the ever-reliable and helpful sound engineers I use and the staff at The Greystones, Sheffield where I put on some of my gigs.

I especially appreciate the support of staff and volunteers at the lovely community venues I use in Kirklees – Hepworth Village Hall, Marsden Mechanics and most especially at The Carlile Institute in Meltham. The community association and the whole village has been so supportive of the concerts. Thanks to the folks at Cafe 33, Meltham Library, The Flower Box and Marsden Library for selling event tickets, to Holme Valley Review and Meltham's Community Magazine for regularly featuring gigs in their publications. I'm grateful to all the wonderful bands who have performed for us and to the numerous friends and supporters who have lent gear, put out chairs, helped on the door, spread the word about events and above all, my thanks go to all those who have bought tickets – without you there would be no gigs! Thank you for helping me to make special evenings of live music happen.

Our last two events of 2017 are coming up over the next two weeks, with phenomenal transatlantic band The Horsenecks in Meltham on Friday 1st December and a sizzling bluegrass double bill at Marsden Mechanics with south of England headliners Hot Rock Pilgrims on Friday 8th December.
