Arts on Prescription Exhibition
Arts on Prescription works with local charities and organisations to bring arts activities, as a form of creative intervention, into the lives of mental health sufferers in the district. Funded by the St Albans District Health and Wellbeing Partnership, the courses offer those suffering from mild to moderate anxiety, depression or stress the chance to try out different art forms such as creative writing, visual arts and drama. This exhibition celebrates the vibrant and diverse artwork created by the current Arts on Prescription group at Mind in Mid Herts.
Winner of “Community Project of the Year 2018 ” at the St Albans Mayor’s Pride Awards, the Arts on Prescription programme developed out of the growing evidence from studies suggesting that participating in an art form can have a beneficial impact on a person’s sense of health and wellbeing from building confidence to reducing isolation and learning new skills.
