Street Art Fossils: Free Family Fun
Have you ever heard of a Megasockasaurus? No? That's because its make believe! Come along and create your own imaginary creatures and wonder at the weirdness of real fossils!
Throughout the weekend, artist David Harbott will be drawing giant fossils in colourful chalks and pigments on the ground by the LearningLab and Torre Abbey tea room, and he will be inviting artistic visitors of all ages to join him. In the the LearningLab, you will also find all kinds of interesting fossil-fun, along with information about our amazing Geopark, and the Anthropocene ... the new geological period influenced by human beings that scientists are currently debating.
This activity is free for everyone and suitable for all ages. Children need to be accompanied by an adult, and all are welcome to join in and create together.
David will be photographing our beautiful creations from high up in the Abbey, and he hopes that the fossil artworks made by everyone over the weekend will become part of the Public Art pieces he is creating in time for the International UNESCO Geopark Conference coming to Torbay in September.
Don't forget, entry to Torre Abbey Historic House & Gardens is free for children and young people under-18. So treat the adults among you to an Adult Ticket and make a day of it!
