JESSICA PEARSON, FILMMAKER TALK: THE SPACE OUTSIDE
Saturday 11th November, 11am
As part of Torquay Museum's Explorer Season, come and listen to filmmaker Jessica Pearson of Shimnix Films talk about 'The Space Outside'
Jessica's talk will guide you through the trials and tribulations of being a film maker, how to follow your passion and how she ended up on a 4 year adventure documenting women explorers. The talk will end with the screening of the Award Winning short film, The Space Outside. The Space Outside is the first film in a 4 part series, which aims to inspire more people to step outside their comfort zone and take a step towards Adventure.
After becoming ill at the age of 15, Jess started to use film as a way of communicating. A rare autoimmune illness called Myasthenia Gravis, caused paralysis in her face, mouth, tongue and throat. For many years Jess was unable to speak, which lead to her exploration in communicating through film. Jess is now in a stable condition and her passion is to use film to communicate other peoples stories.
This is a fundraising event for Torquay Museum. Tickets cost £5 and are available from reception at Torquay Museum either in person or over the phone. Pre-booking is advisable - call 01803 293975.
