‘The Awkward Squad: Radical Torquay’ - A talk by local historian, Dr Kevin Dixon
Torquay resident Dr Dixon is passionate about researching and presenting stories about the history of Torquay’s ordinary, and not-so-ordinary, residents and visitors. This event will include a fascinating insight into radicalism, rebellion, riot and counterculture in the ‘Bay with stories of historical episodes in the 1800 & 1900s including The Torquay Chartists, The Bread Riots, The Salvation Army Riot, Torquay and Paignton’s Suffragettes plus modern day activism.
