An Introduction to English Paper Piecing with Holly

The traditional patchwork technique of English Paper Piecing involves cutting & folding fabric around paper templates, secured with hand-sewn stitches, to create small shapes which can be sewn together to form a larger shape. In this short introduction, you’ll learn some basic fussy cutting & hand-sewing techniques to make a paper-pieced hexagon rosette.

This fabric flower can be the starting point of a blanket or cushion, or used as an embellishment for a wide range of projects, including clothing embellishment.

This type of patchwork is incredibly relaxing and a good way to unwind after a busy day. It’s also a great way to make use of scrap fabric, and could be used as a mending technique to cover holes or stains in existing textiles.

Sewing Skill Level: Complete Beginner

Materials included: Fabric, scissors, needle, thread and paper templates.

Healthy & Safety: during the workshop everyone will have their own materials and tools. Sanitiser and disinfectant will be available. If you feel unwell please let us know and stay home. We’d ask people to wear face masks unless medically exempt. The workshop is on the ground floor of the FairTrader, accessible around the side of the building.
Course conditions:the workshop needs minimum numbers to run. In the unlikely event it doesn't meet this the workshop will be cancelled. Your booking is secured by payment and if you choose to cancel you get a refund up to 7 days before the event however after that no refund can be given.
