Sam Claflin heads a superb array of British acting talent, including Asa Butterfield, Paul Bettany, and Tom Sturridge, in Saul Dibb’s piercing adaptation of R.C. Sheriff's seminal 1928 anti-war play. In the trenches of World War I, new recruit Raleigh has pulled strings to join his childhood hero Captain Stanhope on the front line.
Dartington’s connection with Journey’s End: Actor and Producer Maurice Brown, Together with the founders of Dartington Hall Trust, Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst, founded a West End theatrical company which put on a variety of plays between 1929 and 1935. Their biggest success was R. C. Sherriff's Journey's End. A part of the proceeds from Journey's End was said to have been used at Dartington to convert the medieval barn into the Barn Theatre that you see today, and where you can fittingly watch the 2017 blockbuster adaptation on the big screen this February.
In the centenary year of the end of World War 1, Dartington Playgoers will also be performing the 1928 production ‘Journey’s End’, directed by Leon Winston in a sequence of evening performances at The Hex Studio on The Dartington Hall Estate from 20th March – 24th March.
