Making a Mark: Decorated artefacts of Neolithic Britain

British Neolithic art is enigmatic, largely consisting of abstract motifs carved on open-air rocks in northern Britain, the walls of Irish passage tombs and a variety of decorated artefacts of stone, chalk and antler. The talk will discuss the aims and results of the Making a Mark project and highlight the analysis of the Lavant Drum, an important decorated Neolithic chalk artefact local to Chichester.
