The Media Centre is very proud to be a sponsor of Wuthering Bytes, the festival of interesting technology in the heart of the Pennines.
Taking place in Hebden Bridge, 15-17 August, Wuthering Bytes offers a diverse programme of speakers, workshops, social events and the Open Source Hardware Camp. It is a perfect weekend for anyone interested in technology, design, coding and a bit of hacking with purpose.
Speakers include:
Sophie Wilson co-designer of the BBC Microcomputer, who also wrote BBC BASIC and co-designed the ARM processor.
Imran Ali, founding partner of CARBON:imagineering, who will look at how to pretend you've turned your city into the next Silicon Valley
Phil Hawksworth, Technical Director at R/GA in London looks at ways to use emerging tools and services to create robust, high performance 'static' websites.
Luke Murphy-Wearmouth explores what web designers can learn from theatre design.
Sarah Angliss looks at the surprising pre-electric roots of electronic music.
Ruth Coustick-Deal of the Open Rights Group explains the group's campaigns for surveillance reform.
James Macfarlane and Ed Moore of Airborne Engineering describe how they use open source software to do rocket science.
Dan Morrison, founder of BLOTT WORKS tells the story of the design, skills, materials and techniques that went into the development of their first product.
Open Source Hardware Camp also features 12 talks and 8 workshops on the Saturday and Sunday.
