Holocaust exhibition shortlisted in the National Lottery Awards

Holocaust exhibition shortlisted in the National Lottery Awards

The Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre, based at the University of Huddersfield, has reached the finals of the 25th Anniversary National Lottery Awards. This means that it has been judged one one of the 10 best heritage projects in the country.

The Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre is the culmination of more than 20 years of work by a community-based charity, the Holocaust Survivors’ Friendship Association. This unique initiative, created in partnership with the University, tells the story of the Holocaust through the eyes of people who experienced it first-hand in a museum standard exhibition that uses artefacts, archives, photographs and immersive audio-visual exhibits. It is free and open to everyone.

The Centre's exhibition, learning programmes and events promote universal values of equality and human rights and ask visitors to consider their own individual responsibilities in challenging prejudice. It aims to promote empathy and build critical thinking skills to help people navigate a world of instant communication and #fakenews.

The charity needs your help to win the prize of £10,000 and an appearance on BBC1’s One Show. Please vote now and help us bring this prestigious award to Kirklees.
