Open call for artist/makers: Pour Me
An exhibition celebrating the humble jug
Runs at Devon Guild of Craftsmen 18 March – 7 May 2017
In celebration of what is visually thought of as of one of the simplest forms, Pour Me will applaud the humble jug. The exhibition will highlight how deceptively difficult it can be to make a jug; makers must consider balance and weight.
Will it pour? Is the handle strong enough to withstand the weight of the liquid? Is the handle pulled, extruded, cast? Jugs can also be vessels to hold other things or be interpreted in different ways and feature in many 2D artists’ compositions.
Pour Me will explore how the jug can be interpreted in many ways, and in many different materials.
We are looking for submissions from Members who work in tableware, vessels, sculpture, textiles, metals, silver, enamel, glass and wood - in fact we aim to include all mediums – both 3D and 2D interpretations will be exhibited. Pour Me will show up to 3 pieces of work by selected Members and all work must be for sale.
