Laced up! - new exhibition at the Devon Guild

intoLACE - artists & makers whose work references lace
14 September - 3 November 2013

The Devon Guild of Craftsmen and Thelma Hulbert Gallery (Honiton) are staging a dual exhibition of contemporary makers whose work challenges preconceived ideas of lace. Overall 22 artists have made new work that rediscovers the historic value and enduring appeal of lace. Exhibits at the Guild feature fabric-wrapped ceramic, photograms, glass-encased lace, sun-prints through lace, laser-cut paper sculpture and delicate jewellery. Specially commissioned site-specific installations will be in-situ at each venue. Exhibitors

DEMOS with Devon Lace Teachers, Saturdays 10am - 4pm
Free, drop-in Lace Demonstrations with a ‘have a go’ element take place each Saturday throughout the exhibition.

THE BIG DRAW: 'Drawing Pa-lace' 29 & 30 October 11am-4pm
Celebrate the National Campaign for Drawing with creative activities inspired by our lace art exhibition: cut-outs, patterning, mask-making and projections. Materials provided. Free, drop-in. All ages.
