Do you want to work in a vibrant and buzzing craft café with great benefits? The Devon Guild of Craftsmen is looking for a charismatic Head Chef to generate regular and special event menus using fresh, locally sourced seasonal produce. You will lead a friendly kitchen team, and will be able to use this opportunity to spread your wings and try out new ideas. You will be bold with menu choices, enjoy cooking creatively and have a flair for artisan baking. Ideally you are an inspirational leader with great communication skills. You must have a hygiene certificate and be skilled in food preparation to be able to retain our excellent environmental health score. A good working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness at all times and experience of delivering brilliant customer service in a fast-paced working environment is essential. As Head Chef you will work a maximum of 4 days a week (with only the occasional evening) with half hour lunch breaks, no split shifts and consecutive days off. The Devon Guild is a beautiful listed building that includes a rooftop terrace café with glorious views across the town. A popular craft centre and tourist destination, it is located right on the river and offers inspiring craft exhibitions and events, as well as housing a busy shop. We welcome over 120,000 visitors per year and The Terrace café is the perfect place to relax and devour a delicious cream tea, freshly baked cakes or light lunch (including soups, salad, sandwiches and daily specials). We cater for everyone: meat-eaters, vegetarians and vegans, dairy and gluten-free diets.
