Quilting Together and The Laundry Pile exhibitions
Gallery 1: Nicola Parren in collaboration with the Meltham Quilting Bee
‘The Quilting Together: Studies of Communal Quilting exhibition presents a series of quilts and drawings that are the result of the work carried out by the Meltham Quilting Bee and the artist/maker; Nicola Perren. The work explores ideas surrounding communal quilting, amateurism and autonomous making spaces. A new, hand sewn quilt is being produced over the duration of the exhibition that anyone is invited to contribute to (no experience necessary).

The Laundry Pile looks beyond the mundanities of doing the laundry and explores clothes washing in context to the environment and our evolving material culture. It brings together a range of work from a small group of activists, researchers and designers who have explored laundry and its associated practices from a variety of different perspectives. The exhibition displays work relating to three core themes Design, Materials and Cultural Narratives.
