Young People’s Puppet Theatre: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Young People’s Puppet Theatre present Shakespeare’s magical A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Beaumont School in St Albans, the culmination of an extended project by twenty-one students aged eleven to fifteen.
The students have each built a nine-string marionette puppet and have collaborated on set designs, working as a tight-knit team in weekly sessions overseen by YPPT founder Jeremy Duschenes. The 45-minute production has been adapted by Rebekah King and is presented independently, without adult intervention or assistance, on a high-tech puppetry stage. Each student takes a role – from narration to voice acting, puppetry, lighting, sound, stage management or scene changing.
Supported by Old Possum’s Practical Trust.
Performances on Monday 17th July at 6.00pm and Tuesday 18th July at 7.30pm.
