Dr Deborah Sugg Ryan, Senior Lecturer in Histories and Theories of Design at University College Falmouth, will focus on how the Ideal Home Exhibition educated and entertained homeowners with displays of modern mass produced furniture. She will discuss two competing views of modern furniture: the Women’s Institute ‘house that women want’ and Alison and Peter Smithsons’ ‘house of the future’.
