Hidden Gems Volunteer
Are you interested crafts? Do you like to make things? Would you like to help support people who are out of work or have been impacted by welfare reform?
Hidden Gems is looking for a creative and engaging volunteer to support our project in Exeter.
Hidden Gems is a project for people who are out of work or have been affected by welfare reform. The project offers people the opportunity to develop and build employment skills and be supported to identify and overcome health and personal barriers to employment. We work with recycled copper to design, make and sell jewellery and other handcrafted products and offer participants the opportunity to undertake a qualification, such as the Social Enterprise Qualification.
We are looking for someone who is creative and has experience of craft activities as well as a genuine interest in supporting people to make positive change. Hidden Gems volunteers care about the health and wellbeing of those around them and their communities.
What does a Hidden Gems volunteer do?
You will be supporting the overall delivery of Hidden Gems, which could include activities such as:
- Supporting individuals or small groups with written work
- Promote / instigate positive conversation with participants
- Engage and encourage people in creative activities
- Support quality product development
- Support participants at events selling Hidden Gems products
- Assist the project facilitators in the day-to-day running
- Build participants confidence and motivation
What is the time commitment?
Ideally, we are looking for people who can commit to volunteering for 4 hours a week for at least a three month period. However, we are flexible – so please do get in touch to discuss your availability.
The project runs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 10am – 2pm, in Marsh Barton, Exeter.
