Olympic 2012 Recycled Exhibition - Verulamium Museum
As a legacy of the Olympic Games, the Olympic Torch Relay and Paralympic Flame coming to St Albans, the BA Contemporary Applied Arts Students at the University of Hertfordshire were invited to create amazing artwork using the official Olympic materials.
The St Albans Arts Development Team piloted this project on behalf of St Albans District Council and this was a unique opportunity for the 2nd year students, with prizes awarded to the two best pieces produced.
The aim was to transform the kilometres of branded fabric into innovative structures, however large or small, to ensure the materials were not only 100 per cent recycled, but the memories and inspiration of the Olympics remained with us.
The stunning structures, bags and bowls are now on display in The Colonnade at the Museum, from 12 July to 14 August, with a launch attended by The Mayor, Cllr. Annie Brewster.
Hours of opening, 10am - 5pm Monday to Saturday, 2pm - 5pm Sunday.
