Red Earth Opera are performing for the first time at Hannahs at Seale Hayne. Red Earth Opera is a company run from Paignton by local singer and musician Jane Anderson-Brown. They performed Dido and Aeneas at last year's Teignmouth Classical Music festival, and have been invited back to perform again, and this year have added a second performance.
The opera is Idomeneo: King of Crete, by Mozart. It will be presented in the great hall at Hannahs, in English, with narration, orchestra and semi-staged. Principal singers come from London, Wales, Bristol and Devon, and local professionals and skilled amateurs form the chorus and orchestra. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear and see a great opera presented in an approachable format.
