Poppy Field Figurative Sculpture
Poppy Field (b. 1993; London, UK) is a figurative sculptor. She works from a private studio at Warren Park Heritage and Craft Centre in East Herts.
Poppy typically works from life, under natural light. She models her maquettes in reusable, non-toxic, and sulphur-free oil-based plastilina and her sculptures in water-based fire-clay. This clay is sourced from Caughley in Shropshire and is easily reclaimed in the studio after a mould is taken. She primarily casts her works in silicon bronze, which is virtually indestructible unless melted down.
Alongside teaching from her studio and modest commissions, Poppy's studio works often weave together current affairs, the historical works she turns to for inspiration, and conversations with the life model, as well as new technologies such as photogrammetry and 3-d printing.
