&Piano Music Festival Event 2: Instrumental Evening
Violin&Piano
Featuring:
Violin Sonata in A Major - César Franck
Dolly Suite (for Piano Duet) - Gabriel Fauré
The second &Piano performance is all about instrumental music, and we start with one of the most popular and recognisable instruments, the violin, which has a wealth of amazing music written for it.
Michelle Northam, leader of Slaithwaite's very own Philharmonic Orchestra, performs music including Cesar Franck's dramatic, demanding yet wonderful Violin Sonata. Also in this concert, Chris Pulleyn will be joined by Jenny Martins, to perform Fauré's well-known Dolly Suite for Piano duet (yes, only one instrument, but more than one person playing it!). Join us to listen to and learn about some of the most beautiful French music written around the turn of the 20th Century.
Slaithwaite is a beautiful village in Huddersfield, that sits along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. It has a train station with trains that come direct from Leeds and Manchester. It is also a convenient location from the M62, coming off at either J23 (coming from Manchester), or J24. There is plenty of free parking around The Civic, and also many excellent café's, restaurants and bars for food or drink before or after.
