Life Expectancy

An exhibition of interactive sculptures by Phil Dixon.
‘Life Expectancy’ aims to explore and externalise relationships, emotions, beliefs and thoughts. To do this I have thought in more depth about the reasons I am intent with finding my place in this world, and the anxieties this gives me. The sculptures reflect this in several ways.
The fun aspect of operating the sculptures contrasts the meaning behind each object used in the work, which is to convey my own concern with growing older, the inevitable end to my life, and the struggle to accept the world continuing on its path without being able to be part of it.
My practice could be viewed as a quest for answers; however it is inevitably also providing me with a purpose.
