Mystery Music by Trio of Men & guests
A celebratory afternoon of Agatha Christie-related Musical mysteries featuring musical influences from across the globe, from mystery sonata composer Heinrich Biber (1644-1704) to the mysteries of Justin Bieber.
The afternoon will feature community participation of all generations, new film-footage, investigations of celestial realms, a new form of puzzle-poetry and Japanese composer Makoto Nomura’s virtual appearance as well as solo performances from extraordinary composer Emma Welton and baroque string player Jenny Bliss.
Trio of Men (Hugh Nankivell, Steve Sowden and Ben Ballard) are creative municipal song-makers from South Devon. Their artistic partnership has resulted in projects and performances regionally, nationally and internationally. They were musicians in residence at the 2017 International Agatha Christie Festival and in 2015, they devised and directed ‘The Heaviside Condition’ re-imagining the life of local eccentric genius Victorian engineer and mathematician Oliver Heaviside as a shamanic pantomime. They worked on the music for the award-nominated National Theatre of Scotland project ‘Ignition’ directed by Wils Wilson, and created film and music for “Earth Echoes”, the International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks 2016 Opening Ceremony. Most recently, they curated ‘Invoking 50 Articles’, a choral response to Brexit with the creative community choir The Choral Engineers.
