Dark Skies
4pm
Join Manasamitra, composer Duncan Chapman, and children and parents from Pentlands Infant and Nursery School for Our Biennale project, Dark Skies.
The project has drawn inspiration from the dark skies to create a soundscape that imagines the sounds of our solar system. Come along and enjoy the poetry, music and movements inspired by the vistas of the night skies as imagination and creativity will take centre stage at this North Kirklees Biennale event.
This is part of a larger music composition project being undertaken by Dewsbury based arts organisation Manasamitra and part of their “Look up not down” campaign. Supriya Nagarajan, Manasamitra’s Artistic Director, describes the campaign as going back to the basics where they looked to the skies for information and knowledge.
Manasamitra delivers a range of South Asian arts and cultural experiences in traditional and innovative ways. The company’s work is stimulated by ideas, forms and aesthetics from India located within a contemporary British context.
