Tiny Torbay inspire Original Concept's new film
Original Concept has created an intriguing viral marketing campaign for Torquay's most popular attraction, Babbacombe Model Village, using a film technique called 'Tilt Shift' which has transformed Torbay into a miniature wonderland.
OCP's founder Colin Melville, inspired by childhood visits to the attraction, spent some time last summer filming various attractions (including the Model Village) and popular scenes around the bay. The resulting film - which uses music by up and coming local singer songwriter Maz Totterdell - impressed the Model Village bosses so much they decided to make it the focus of their summer campaign.
Simon Wills, General Manger of The Model Village said: ‘Working with OCP on this project has given us all a completely new way of looking at the Village. We are sure the film will generate a huge amount of interest for visitors to the Village and through our social networking channels.’
The film will feature on the Model Village’s Facebook page and invite followers to see if they can spot the difference between scenes shot at the attraction and those shot around the bay. The film will also feature on their website and will be shown in the Tea Rooms.
OCP’s director Colin Melville who also created Visit Devon's Official 2013 Tourism film said ”The Tilt-Shift effect or miniaturising style, always brought back memories of visiting the Model Village as a child and of long sunny days on holiday in Torbay...so to make a film combining both seemed logical. The film was shot over 6 weeks in the summer of 2012, usually on the rare sunny days that we had! We combined over 10,000 photographs to make the film and then intercut it with footage from the Model Village. The final film shows Torbay from a completely different perspective to how we usually see it. Its amazing how close to a Model Village Torbay actually looks with its picture postcard features”
