Year of Music Support: Funding Guidance Workshops

We all know Year of Music 2023 is going to be fantastic and a lot of this will be down to the immense collaborative efforts of community groups, charities, social enterprise, music groups, orchestras, schools - all those people and groups that give Kirklees such a diverse and varied musical culture.

But staging a series of events, running workshops, creating music, organising festivals (the list goes on) takes more than time knowledge and love. It takes money which will mean making funding applications.

Have you got to the point where you know what you want to do, you know what you want to achieve – but you just keep going round in circles trying to figure out how to get going!

Are you struggling to find the time to write funding applications, or maybe wondering where you can find out more about what community grant funding is available?

Or maybe, you have plenty of experience of the grant funding world, but are a bit fed up doing it all alone!

If you have ambitions to contribute towards Year of Music 2023 and would welcome some support, guidance, space to reflect and network – and opportunities to finally take action and get stuff done – you need to sign up for these online workshops. The sessions are aimed at not-for-profit groups and organisations.

* Understand what grant and trust funders are looking for – and how to read between the lines to pin down their priorities, not just yours.
* Discover where and how to find relevant funding information
* Perhaps you just want some top tips, some checklists to remind you to do things – take away all those doubts you have, and decisions you need to make.
* Remind yourself how important it is to look at income generation in a more sustainable and effective way.

They will cover some of the technical stuff: Theory of Change, Outcomes, Outputs, Capital, Revenue and so on, but these workshops are specifically designed to give you time and space to think, reflect and take action.

Sessions will be facilitated by Lisa Jagger of Straight Forward Funding who has lived and worked within Kirklees for many years. A trust and grant fund specialist whose heart is well and truly placed within the community. With over 20 years of experience of community development, support and grant funding Lisa will be sharing some of her systems, strategies, and successes, along with plenty of insights of the mistakes she has had to learn from!
