A Covid Memorial for Wakefield District
Location – The Rose Garden, Thornes Park, Wakefield

Wakefield Council wishes to create a fitting Covid memorial which will be located in the Rose Garden at Thornes Park on the outskirts of Wakefield city and is seeking a suitable artist to delivery this commission.

The purpose of the piece is to honour and memorialise the loss and struggle that has impacted on, and continues to touch the lives of many of our residents, communities and care workers. It should also recognise how the perseverance and a shared sense of hardship has helped us all deal with the consequences of the global pandemic. We want this commission to encapsulate the unique spirit of the people of Wakefield.
