Marsden Jazz Festival BBC Radio 3 Broadcast

Marsden Jazz Festival's 2018 commission is being broadcast on BBC Radio 3 at 11pm on Monday 12 November.

On Marsden Moor is a suite based on five poems by Marsden-born poet Simon Armitage, which was written by Jonny Mansfield and performed by his Elftet.

Jonny Mansfield grew up in Shepley, 11 miles from Marsden, and frequently visited Marsden Jazz Festival as a child, both to hear gigs and as a young performer. He graduated this year from The Royal Academy, winning their Kenny Wheeler prize, which includes a deal with Edition Records.

We are very proud to have played a significant part in Jonny's jazz education in his formative years.
