My Story Exhibitions - Come and Join Us!

The My Story project, a community arts project within Hertfordshire Libraries, is at the end of its first year. We’d love for you to join us for some or all of our upcoming exciting exhibitions. All exhibitions are free, fun and as follows:

Saturday 29 June, 10am-2pm: Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies

Join Laura Cordery, Artist in Residence at Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies and Hertford Library, for her finale exhibition. Over the course of residency Laura has explored local characters and stories, taking inspiration from archive material and workshop participants. Look through folios created using recycled archive materials, vibrant historical characters made by workshop attendees and a Victorian tunnel book inspired model box of a Hertfordshire pageant. Drop in any time from 10am-2pm to enjoy this exhibition.

Thursday 25 July, 6-8pm: Welwyn Garden City Library

Anna Schofield, of Anna’s Funky Art, has spent four months in residence at Welwyn Garden City Library. During this time, she has led new parents in forest bathing, hosted watercolour sessions for those living with dementia and their carers, worked with a local SEND school creating art from nature, enjoyed making rag wreaths with local residents, and so much more. Join her in the library for an evening of light refreshment and entertainment and to see her final exhibition. Please RSVP via mystory@hertfordshire.gov.uk.

Tuesday 6 August, 7-9pm: St Albans Library

This special exhibition celebrates the brilliant opportunities presented in the first year of My Story: Artist in Residence. The exhibition will include artwork from all residencies to date, as well as creations from partners and one-off events we’ve run. Artists will be on hand to discuss their residencies and there will opportunities to have a go at some of the creative activities we’ve hosted over the last year.

If you are available for these exhibitions, it would be lovely to see you all. Looking to the future, there are residencies happening across 9 libraries in the next year with one-off cultural events at many more. We can’t wait to get stuck into our second year.
