XAP artists selected for prestigious London Residency
Liz Sergeant and fellow Central Saint Martins graduates XAP (Cross Arts Projects), are delighted to have been selected for a month-long residency as part of the Guest Projects programme at artist Yinka Shonibare’s studio in Hackney, East London.
Their ambitious new project, 'The Psychotropic House', opens in January 2014. Inspired by J G Ballard's story ‘A Thousand Dreams of Stellavista’, the project will consist of several elements designed to engage the public: a large-scale, interactive and evolving Psychotropic House, a ‘Big Draw’ family event, live performances, and an evening symposium.
Emerging art collective XAP have collaborated and mentored each other for over five years. They have produced and curated a number of exhibitions in and around London, including 'Valentines Uncovered' at Valentines Mansions, Redbridge; 'Dirty Linen' at the Curious Duke Gallery, London, and 'Chateau D'If' at Shoreditch Town Hall. They bring together rich and varied practices, including interactive digital media, video, sound, paint and performance. Their aim is to initiate exciting and ambitious art projects that engage a wide range of people, questioning what art can be and what it can do.
