Final Year Drama Performance
A cashier in a bank breaks free from the mechanical life he leads by stealing a large sum of money. In an attempt to find a more significant life, he abandons his family and attempts to find love, happiness, and meaning. Visiting a velodrome, cabaret, and Salvation Army Hall, the Cashier learns the cruelty of life and the emptiness of his pursuit. Kaiser’s play is considered the epitome of the German Expressionist style rejecting realism and naturalistic acting in favour of the ecstatic performance.
