Helping the young reluctant reader through making mischief
Do you know a young reluctant reader? Have you ever wondered why they don’t seem to love the written word? Maybe they’ve been told that they are dyslexic or have a reading impairment.
Maybe you worry that they are a bit too dependent on screen time. Worry no more. There are many ways to get into books, or simply to enjoy the power of stories.
Kirklees Libraries have a very special young person who—herself—learned to read through The Beano and is now keen to share her story with others, telling them how she moved from ‘Reluctant Reader’ to ‘Manic Book Worm’!
Join this inspiring teenager and her parent to find out how you, too, can learn to love reading a bit more and create some great ideas and strategies that might help your whole family to improve their enjoyment of life.
The sessions are suitable for adults and their children aged 7 years and above who are a bit ‘reluctant’ about reading (for whatever reasons). All are welcome.
