Holmfirth Writers' Group The Yorkshire Yurt Festival July 1st -5th 2014
Holmfirth Writers meet once a week at Holmfirth Library to write, read out and discuss our work. We are friendly inclusive group of all ages, with poets, novelists and story-writers, and lots who just want to write for fun. We also have a splinter group of poets who meet once a month at the University, for a day studying and getting inspiration from a particular poet or poets.
This Year, for Letour,Holmfirth Writers' Group are hosting The Yorkshire Yurt Festival, as part of the wider Letour Cultural festival, in Holme Village centre. This will all happen inside a Yurt, exquisitely decorated with huge felted panels, created by Sue Clay, textile artist, depicting Yorkshire landscapes with bikes flashing through - a sort of specially commissioned Bayeux tapestry, only in felt, with Bikes, not War! There is a full programme of events every day, including specially created interactive stories for schools, a daily Family Barbeque with music and storytelling, and a programme of comedy, stories, poetry,, visiting authors and lots of music each evening - A real showcase of Yorkshire talent for visitors from all over the world to enjoy.
There is a Bar in the Yurt, and an extra BBQ on Saturday and Sunday 12.00 - 7.00pm
