Holmfirth Arts Festival isn't over yet
Holmfirth Arts Festival welcomed hundreds of people with its popular annual weekend, (June 17-19) offering free street theatre and entertainment for all ages.
But the festival isn’t over yet. There are still several performances to come including Riverside Winds on Saturday 9 July, Clouds Harp Music on 5 August and comedian Gary Delaney on 2 September.
London based quintet Riverside Winds will perform at Hepworth’s Holy Trinity Church on Saturday 9 July. They have a wide range of repertoire from mainstream serious pieces to lighter, more relaxed music. They will be joined by pianist Mikhail Dubov to end the concert.
On 5 August Clouds Harp Music will perform at Christ Church, Sude Hill, in New Mill, Holmfirth. The award-winning quartet who met at music college is one of the most respected and ground breaking harp ensembles in the world.
On 27 August there will be an aerial harness performance on the rocks at Cliff Quarry, Holmfirth, by skilled aerial dancers Deborah Sanderson and Vince Virr. One performance has sold out but there are a few tickets left for the 5.30pm show.
Headlining the festival is comedian Gary Delaney, who is to perform on 2 September at the Civic Hall in Holmfirth as part of a national tour.
This year’s festival is being produced a little differently and instead of cramming everything into one weekend, the excellent and varied programme will run at several venues and places, over seven months with the final events in October.
Festival director Bev Adams said: “We are delighted to offer a varied and inclusive programme of live events this year, some of which are ticketed concerts and many are free.
“If you already know Holmfirth and the Holme Valley, the Festival is an opportunity to see it a little differently. If you’ve not yet discovered this beautiful part of Yorkshire, now is the perfect time to join us.
Thanks to funding from Arts Council England, Kirklees Council, Holme Valley Parish Council, Longley Farm and others, festival organisers have invited top quality, diverse, local, national and international artists to respond to the topic of the landscape and environment.
