Living Crafts Showcase

Living Crafts in Hatfield Park is a fabulous festival celebrating modern and traditional creative genres with a vast array of workshops, demonstrations, and displays all offered in a beautiful setting. Visitors can talk to the artists’ and artisans exhibiting, ask them questions: ‘How did you make this?’, ‘What did you do to achieve this effect?’, and ‘How long does it take to complete?’ .

This year, Living Crafts at Hatfield Park is celebrating its 50th anniversary event with well over 100 artists taking and aiming to make these four days in early May a great festival featuring all kinds of arts and crafts.

Herts Visual Arts Forum (HVAF) has a centrally located marquee where some of our Members will be showcasing their talent. Each day, six different local artists will be there, demonstrating their skills, explaining their techniques to visitors, sharing work in progress and displaying finished artworks. There will be original artwork, cards and prints for sale making ideal gifts and mementos of the day.

About Herts Visual Arts Forum (HVAF)

As the largest volunteer-run arts organisation in the county, HVAF has over 350 individual Members.  All are Hertfordshire-based artists and makers working in a wide range of artistic disciplines.  Our annual programme includes various events at which our Members can meet, exhibit or sell their work.  The highlight of the calendar is Herts Open Studios in September taking place at venues across the county, as Members open up their workplaces to visitors or collaborate in pop-up shops, galleries and arts centres.  We also have permanent exhibitions in various business premises – currently in Stevenage, Potters Bar and Dacorum. HVAF membership is open to all artists and artisans at every stage of their career development. 

We offer support, advice and training to our members through regular networking sessions in local area groups and the specialist groups for Artists working with Textiles, 3D Makers, Plein Air Painters and Abstract artists.  

Annual membership is currently just £45 per year, with senior concessions available.  Benefits include a Gallery on the HVAF Website, social media promotion across HVAF platforms, a PRIVATE Facebook group to connect with other members, and monthly Newsletters which include news, opportunities, hints, tips, articles and more.  Non-members can also sign up for our Newsletters.

Our printed quarterly magazine ‘LOVE ART’ is distributed to Members. It’s available to read or download from our website Quarterly Magazine | Herts Visual Arts (hvaf.org.uk), and can be found at various public venues.
