Free spaces on First Aid Training for 15-19 year olds - Welwyn
Emergency First Aid: Thursday 6th June, 4.30pm-8.00pm (3.5 hours), delivered by ABC First Aid
Venue: Monks Walk School (Sixth Form Block), Knightsfield, Welwyn Garden City AL8 7NL.
Summary:
Essential training for any young person interested in working on live events, or for everyday! The Heart of Flame Festival for young performers and event managers is making this training available for free to 15-19 year olds interested in working on live music and dance events.
A short course which shows young people how to deal with medical emergencies quickly and simply, identifying and managing life-threatening problems until a more qualified member of staff, or an ambulance, arrives.
The aim of this informal session is to reassure participants as to the simplicity and importance of good first aid, encouraging them to discuss their own concerns and experiences of common injury and illness situations.
Description:
Subjects covered include:
• Act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency (Primary Survey)
• Administer Basic Life Support (Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2010), using resuscitation models
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious or fitting.
As well as an ‘open forum’ discussion of subjects such as Choking, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Head Injury, etc, which can be covered as required by the group.
This training is free for 15- 19 year olds as part of the Heart of Flame Festival, where local young people are being trained to run live music and dance events.
