Helena Enright Director, Actor, Playwright, Facilitator, Researcher
I am from Ireland but currently working in Bath Spa University as a drama lecturer. I have considerable experience and a proven track record in a number of fields, including event and project management, teaching, facilitation, theatre production and touring, research and PR & marketing. I completed a PhD in Performance Practice (Drama) at the University of Exeter in 2011.
I believe passionately in the potential of theatre and the arts as a powerful medium for creative expression and cultural development and am committed to providing opportunities for the public to engage with and access theatre and the arts in new and innovative ways. I am also interested in Oral History and how communities narrate their lives. Since 2006, I have written, produced, directed and acted in a number of documentary plays which have been critically acclaimed and won awards. I am co-artistic director of Viva Voce, a company which aims to create artistic experiences through the words and memories of real people. My article ‘Letting it breathe: writing and performing the words of others’ was recently published in the journal, Studies in Theatre and Performance. From 2000 until 2005, I was Public Relations Office for the award winning Limerick Musical Society.
