Two hcmf// 2016 composers nominated for RPS Music Awards

We are delighted that two composers closely associated with hcmf// have been nominated in the shortlist for Chamber-Scale Compositions at this year’s RPS Music Awards.

Australian composer Liza Lim, who is Professor of Composition and Director of CeReNeM at the University of Huddersfield, is nominated for her work, How Forests Think, a reflection on the unexpected kinships between things which was premiered by ELISION at hcmf// 2016.

Berlin-based British composer Rebecca Saunders has had a close relationship with the Festival over the years, featuring as Composer in Residence in 2010, and is already the recipient of two RPS Music Awards. Her latest work, Skin (an hcmf// co-commission), was performed at hcmf// 2016 by leading Austrian contemporary music ensemble, Klangforum Wien.

The RPS Music Awards are recognised as the most prestigious awards for live classical music in the UK, celebrating outstanding musical achievement, and we are delighted to have presented the UK premieres of these extraordinary works in Huddersfield. The winners of the awards will be announced on Tuesday 9 May.
