For Manga Scroll Marclay appropriates sounds found in serialised Manga comics originally published in Japan but translated for an English-speaking market. Having been stripped of their dramatic context, the onomatopoeias are strung together into an 18-metre long hand scroll vocal score, performed by the extraordinary Shelley Hirsch.
