CANCELLED - Batford Spring Open Day

The Town Council has been closely following the development of the Coronavirus and considering what action it needs to take to mitigate any risks to its Employees, Councillors and members of the public.

There is clear advice that those with mild symptoms should isolate themselves which places the emphasis on individuals with symptoms to follow this advice. Many of them will, but some won’t, and these are the individuals that we are concerned about as they pose a risk to our Employees, Councillors and members of the public. In addition Government is now recommending that residents avoid gatherings and non-essential social contact.

Following this latest advice from Government, we have taken the decision to cancel non-essential Council initiatives and activities between now and the end of May. We appreciate that this will be disappointing for many people but we believe that this is appropriate action given the unprecedented situation we find ourselves in.

May marks the 'BIG OUTDOORS' for the Herts Year of Culture!

Harpenden Town Council will be celebrating Harpenden’s Local Nature Reserve and the local wildlife found in and around Harpenden, and all the brilliant local organisations that look after Wildlife nearby.

The day will be filled with activities for all the family and will be a fantastic opportunity to learn about what Batford Springs Local Nature Reserve has to offer. Bring a picnic and have lunch by the river. Take a tour and learn about the management of this important site, and the work the Batford Springs Volunteers have put in to restore the rare chalk streams. Join the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust on a bug hunt through the meadows. River dip in the chalk stream and look at the wonderful aquatic life that lives in the water.
