Louise Bougourd’s first solo exhibition at Harbour House will include a range of works from her painting career, showing how her painting style has evolved over time.
"My latest work, a mixture of mixed media and pure watercolour, is based on a synthesis of style from representational to more intuitive impressionistic work to show my emotional response to a scene or subject. It is the essence of a scene or subject that captures my imagination and drives me to create daily. I am inspired to create by so many subjects: gigantic panoramic views across Dartmoor or from a hilltop, boats in harbours, hedgerows, estuaries with deep reflections... Using bold and expressive marks transforms my work into a translation of what I see and feel capturing the spirit of my emotional reaction to a scene, steering away from a representational rendition. My practice is constantly changing as I forge forward and challenge myself in the desire to create interesting and emotive artwork."
